BIRSAK ADVISORY
Independent judgment for consequential growth decisions.
Birsak Advisory helps owners and management teams decide where to grow, which opportunities deserve capital and whether to build, buy, partner, invest, wait or walk away.
No agenda. Better bets.
ADVICE WITHOUT A PREFERRED ROUTE
The path should fit the opportunity — not the adviser’s business model.
Venture builders build. M&A advisers pursue transactions. Technology providers implement. Any of these paths may be right. None should be predetermined.
Birsak Advisory is not tied to any one of them.
The question is:
Which opportunity deserves capital — and how should it be pursued?
Build
Buy
Partner
Invest
Wait
Walk away
Different opportunities call for different paths.
HOW WE WORK
01 — DEFINE
Growth Thesis
Where should the company seek growth — and why?
02 — DISCOVER
Opportunity Landscape
Which specific opportunities exist within those areas?
03 — DECIDE
Route and capital allocation
Which opportunities should the company pursue — and in what form?
04 — DELIVER
Execution setup
Bring together the right internal and external capabilities for Build, Buy, Partner or Invest.
05 — OPERATE
Portfolio Steering
Scale, adapt, invest further — or stop.
THREE CLIENT SITUATIONS
One philosophy. Three recurring situations.
1
NEXTGEN FAMILY BUSINESS
Write the next chapter.
For next-generation owners who want to build their own growth agenda while preserving the strength of what already exists. You inherited the business. You do not have to inherit the strategy.
New business. Acquisition. Strategic investment. Partnership.
2
MID-SIZED COMPANIES
Big-company decisions. Without big-company overhead.
For ambitious mid-sized companies facing growth and corporate-development decisions that matter too much to improvise — but arise too infrequently to justify every capability in-house.
Corporate development is a capability. Not necessarily a department.
3
CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT TEAMS
An independent second view.
For established corporate-development and strategy teams that need additional judgment, senior capacity or specialist input on selected consequential decisions.
Independent review. Special situations. Senior support.
INDUSTRY FOCUS
Energy. Critical infrastructure. Technology.
Birsak Advisory focuses primarily on the energy sector, critical infrastructure and their technology partners — environments where technology, capital, regulation and long investment cycles meet.
01
Energy & Critical Infrastructure
Energy systems, grids, flexibility, storage, cybersecurity, electrification and new services create many plausible growth options.
Which ones belong on your balance sheet — and in what form?
02
Technology
Technology companies serving regulated and mission-critical sectors face choices about market entry, partnerships, acquisitions, investments and new business models.
Attractive technology is not automatically an attractive business.
We also consider selected mandates in adjacent complex industries when the decision fits Birsak Advisory’s scope and experience.
WHY BIRSAK ADVISORY
01 — NO PREFERRED ANSWER
Birsak Advisory is not economically committed to a transaction, venture or technology implementation. The recommendation can genuinely be: build, buy, partner, invest, wait — or walk away.
02 — OWNER-SIDE PERSPECTIVE
We approach the decision from the client’s side of the table. Not: “What can we sell?” But: “What deserves the investment compared with the alternatives?”
03 — DIRECT SENIOR JUDGMENT
Clients work directly with Tobias Birsak, Founder & Executive Advisor. No delivery pyramid sits between the question and the judgment.
04 — THE RIGHT SPECIALIST
When specialist expertise is needed, selected external experts are brought in for the decision at hand. The capability serves the decision. Not the other way around.
Others sell a capability. We decide which capability the situation requires.
ABOUT
Tobias Birsak’s career spans strategy, corporate development and operating leadership.

Birsak Advisory is an independent advisory firm focused on consequential growth and corporate development decisions.
Tobias Birsak is Founder & Executive Advisor of Birsak Advisory.
He trained in business law in Vienna, Zurich and Nottingham, and in international diplomacy in Vienna and Stanford. He moved from public affairs and industry representation into the CEO Office of an international technology group. He later helped build TTTech ZYNE, the joint venture between TTTech and VERBUND, and served as its Managing Director.
Along the way, he has worked across the boundaries that often shape consequential growth decisions: owners and executives, engineers and investors, policymakers and boards.
Today, Tobias advises companies and owners on consequential growth decisions. The approach starts with the decision — not with a preferred transaction, capability or delivery model.
The advisor in the room should be paid for the quality of the decision — not for steering the client towards a particular solution.
